Pourquoi cette pluie

Why this Rain
So much rain all of a sudden on our faces
On our fields, our homes
A deluge here, the storm in this season
What is the reason?
Is it to drown our perjuries?
Or wash our wounds?
Is it for harvests, more fertile soils?
Is it to destroy them?
Why this rain, why?
Is it a message, is it a cry from the sky?
I'm cold my country, I'm cold
Have you lost the rays of your sun?
Why this rain, why?
Is it a blessing, is it to punish us?
I'm cold my country, I'm cold
Should we celebrate it or curse it?
I searched in the book that knows
In the hollow of its verses
I read 'look for the answers to your question
Look for the common ground'
A beggar on my path
'What are you doing in the street?'
'My sons and my husband left one morning,
None have returned'
Why this rain, why
This water, these clouds that surprise us?
It says 'this rain, you see
These are tears for the eyes of men'
'It's to give you tears
For too long they have dried up
Men do not forget the weapons
When they no longer know how to cry'
Flow rain, flow on our faces.
