El Adiós

The Goodbye
In the afternoon that was dying in shadows
We kindly said goodbye
You didn't see my deep sadness
And as you left, we both smiled
And the desolation watching you leave
Broke with emotion my poor voice
The happiest dream died in the goodbye
And the sky darkened for me
In vain, the soul with a veiled voice
Poured out its sorrows into the night
Only a deep and serious silence
Wept in my heart
Over the time that has passed, you always live in me
And these fields that saw us smile together
Ask me if forgetting healed me from you
And among the winds, my complaints go away
Dying in echoes, searching for you
While far away; other arms and other kisses
Imprison you and tell me that you will never return
When spring returns
And the fields are painted with color
Once again, the pain and memories
Of nostalgia will fill my heart
The birds will populate the place with trills
And the sky will pour out its clarity
But my heart will live in shadows
And the wing of pain will call you
In vain, the soul will speak to the moon
With a veiled voice, its sorrows
And there will be a deep and serious silence
Crying in my heart
