The Church in Worship
1. Eternal Father, your people gathered,
Humbly sing your praise here!
On the day set aside for worship,
With hope we look to you.
We take your holy book, great God,
With simple faith and reverent love,
And, as attentive children, we seek
Understanding in the word of the Lord.
2. Jesus! We want to sit at your blessed feet
To receive your counsel,
And being taught by you,
To grow more and more in holy faith.
Removed from the world and its burdens,
We want to rest in you, Lord,
Looking at the rich treasures
In the fullness of your vast love.
3. Teach your people, divine Spirit,
Dispel the darkness from these hearts
And with the light of your heavenly teaching,
Come to clarify the holy instructions.
Revive in us the powers of memory,
For we always want to know more
The King of heaven, Christ whose glory
Delights the holy angels with joy. Amen.
