Dama Antañona
Ilan Chester
Old-fashioned Lady
With clear blazons you were the rose
Romantic gallants said yesterday
What a lovely brunette I saw
Coming out of the ten o'clock mass
Watching you, you lowered your pearly forehead
And candidly avoided
Your eyes, the light briefly igniting the blush
In the lace of the Andalusian veil
Gentle old-fashioned lady
Honor was your shield
In your finery, you knew how to unite
Love and home
You listened to moonlit nights
To serenades on the balcony
And from a surrendered suitor, you accepted
The tenderness of dancing a waltz
Very beautiful girls of today's time
With purple lips, coal eyes
Short skirts, crimson cheeks, carefree with a sporty air
Hysterical glances that provoke men
And lustful twists imposed by the foxtrot
However, their being carries within
Innocence, virtue, and candor
Crazy with childish joy, she invented a strange outfit
She wanted to show off in the dancing hall
The costume of yesteryear, she wore long petticoats
And when she put on the mantilla
The Caraqueña proved to be eternal
Like before, a woman and a flower
