Tempus Fugit
Ingrimm
Time Flies
I walk through a deep valley
my face veiled
since my wish was fulfilled
Once wandered in silk and velvet
today I wear a ragged garment veiled
moving as a shadow through the land
how thoughtless was my choice
what lasts forever becomes eternal torment
Long forgotten are the names
that I once loved
I see time as it slips away
recognize the old man in the child
and in May the leaves fall
Time flies
Not the smallest grain of sand
remains in my hand
Proud walls turn to dust
Sunshine on morning dew
the green of the forests, the blue of the seas
I have seen a thousand times
Every joy is far from me
like the stars of the night sky
that will one day disappear with me
I see time as it slips away
recognize the old man in the child
and in May the leaves fall
Time flies
Not the smallest grain of sand
remains in my hand
Proud walls turn to dust
Sand runs in the hourglass
and I recognize every grain
No matter how many times I turn it
it starts again from the beginning
I see time as it slips away
recognize the old man in the child
and in May the leaves fall
Time flies
Not the smallest grain of sand
remains in my hand
Proud walls turn to dust
Time flies
