La Carta Del Adiós
Inti-Illimani
The Goodbye Letter
For many days I searched for a way to say it
without opening a wound or making you suffer,
the bitterest hours rang in my veins
like broken bells or trains about to leave.
I'm writing you because the letter you'll find
tomorrow under your pillow,
is the letter of goodbye.
Don't look for any sign other than life itself,
the life we lived that hurt us both.
It's a letter written with all the pain
that opens our chests and wounds our veins,
but with it, I want you to understand that I'm leaving,
breaking forever the beloved chains,
the beloved chains.
The land of love has something inexplicable
and it only planted my soul with wilted flowers.
I leave you my sob without a single moan
and a defenseless garden
watered by the anguish of what has been lost.
