Nuestro México, Febrero Veintitrés
Inti-Illimani
Our Mexico, February Twenty-Third
Our Mexico, February twenty-third,
Carranza let the Americans pass,
ten thousand soldiers, six hundred airplanes,
searching for Villa throughout the country.
Those on horseback couldn't sit down
and those on foot couldn't walk
so Villa passes them in airplanes
and from above tells them goodbye.
The airplanes began to fly
then Villa formed a great plan
he dressed as an American soldier
and also transformed his troops.
But when the gringos saw the woods
with many bars that Villa painted for them
they got off with their airplanes
and Pancho Villa took them as prisoners.
All the people in Chihuahua and Ciudad Juarez
were very scared and amazed
to see so many gringos and Carrancistas
that Pancho Villa hung on the posts.
What did the soldiers from Texas think
that fighting was a dance of carquices.
With their faces full of shame
they all returned to their country.
I entrust you, my faithful companions
to stand firm at the foot of your canyon
to fire the last shot
for the defense of our nation
