La Zarzamora

The Blackberry Bush
In a cafe in the east, among claps and joys
The blackberry bush was singing
They nicknamed her because they say she had
Eyes like blackberries
She first spoke to a dealer, and olé
And then she went with a marquis
Who adorned her with diamonds, and olé
From head to toe
People said she was cold
That she was mocking men
Until one night, with jealous rage
They caught the blackberry bush crying
What's wrong with the blackberry bush
That all the time
She cries and cries in the corners
She who always laughed
And boasted of breaking hearts?
She tested a love
And experienced a fondness
That brings her back and forth
Through the street of pain
The flamencos from the store
Watch her at odd hours
Because they are determined
To know about the cursed love
That bewitched the blackberry bush
When the clock struck twelve, a song of agony
The blackberry bush cried
But no one gave reasons or knew the ins and outs
Of that treacherous pain
But one night in the east, and olé
A woman went to look for her
When she had her in front of her, and olé
They said who knows what
No one has known what they talked about
But the blackberry bush said it crying
In a little song that has quickly spread
And that people are already publishing
What's wrong with the blackberry bush
That all the time
She cries and cries in the corners
She who always laughed
And boasted of breaking hearts?
She tested a love
And experienced a fondness
That brings her back and forth
Through the street of pain
The flamencos from the store
Watch her at odd hours
Because they are determined
To know about the cursed love
That bewitched the blackberry bush
She wears a wedding ring
They came to tell me
But I had already kissed her
And it was too late for me
Let them publish my sin
And the sorrow that devours me
And let everyone shun me
Upon knowing about the cursed love
That bewitched the blackberry bush
