Yo también quiero casarme
Isabel Parra
I Also Want to Get Married
I also want to get married
like all the others,
but young to my liking
I have not been able to find.
It's better, gentlemen,
that I remain unmarried
and not fall into the trap
for all eternity.
If he's handsome, he'll be a gem
that needs to be taken care of,
if he's ugly, he'll be a demon
that can't be looked at.
If he's rich, he'll be proud,
what a profane vanity,
if he's poor, he'll be despised
by the whole neighborhood.
If he's tall, he'll be a giant
that I can't look at,
if he's short, he'll be a toy
that I can't respect.
If he's fat, he'll be a stove
that will give off a lot of heat,
if he's skinny, he's a fish
that has no flavor.
That's why prudence advises me
to not marry
neither a poor nor a rich man,
nor a short nor a tall one.
