Snow

That day was the coldest
Of the bitterest January
Perhaps the longest winter
That love has known
She smokes shivering
Survivor of avalanches
He writes in the cloud
From his mouth a still
He comes out of some bar
As if lost in the fog
She looks for springs
While smoking a cigarette
And there in the middle of nowhere
In the open air they meet
The street remains deserted
When they lock eyes

And it snows on my tired back
On my trapped house
In a snow globe
That loneliness shakes
When everything ends
When everything goes wrong
And it snows, snows and no one says anything
Only footprints remain
Of those who exit the scene
It snows and they just smile
The jasmines freeze
The frost climbs my legs
And it snows

Looking for warmth in the skin
Unintentionally they have approached
It's cold, someone has spoken
Elevator conversation
The eternal has a beginning
In the smallest Big Bang
The snow fills the silence
They peer over the precipice
The past and its ghosts
While the snow covers them
And they fail the custom
Of being prudent and chat
Without shame and without shields
And the night collapses
The snow never stops
And they forget about the plans

Finally, the embrace arrives
They almost don't feel cold
Both are shivering
Their bodies intertwined
They fear the future
Neither wants to move
Plans always go awry
Love is like smoke
No one will leave
The snow already hides them
It's fear that buries
Under the snow a maybe
Life is buried
And a winter forever
There's no summer to thaw
