Bajo el cielo azul

Under the blue sky of my mountains
there, nestled on the slope
is a pearly little house
full of light, full of sun,
full of faith and love.
Next to the humility of its clods
and among its dreamy orchards
there are some tempting big eyes
that enchant when they shine,
fascinate when they laugh, and kiss when they look.

They are the big eyes of my love,
the beautiful eyes of my love,
that captured my desire
with their blinding brightness.
They are the pupils of the one
who owns my heart,
the beloved faithful one,
the ideal companion,
with lips like carnations
and laughter like crystal.

For her, my feverish singing,
for her, my triumphant song,
the wings of my inspiration
in a divine madrigal.
She is, under the blue sky,
the goddess who, in my solitude,
leads me to this radiant Eden
that is my happiness.

When the sun sets far away
and, tired, I return to my humble home,
I think of the joy that awaits me
when I find a woman
who speaks to me of love.
And if any sorrow crosses my soul
and I find no relief in my distress,
those eyes that I love so much,
drive away my pain,
soothe my suffering,
help me to live.
