Cachorro Valente
Jacó e Jacozinho
Brave Dog
I was a good hunter but I don't like to remember
Because I lost my wife on the edge of the swamp
Only me and the dog were left, with a little son to raise
The dog was brave, trained to hunt
But to me, he was gentle
He seemed like a little kitten
Of the Angora breed
In that area, there was a painted jaguar
The jaguar that killed my beloved wife
The terror of the backlands didn't fall into the trap
I swore to seek revenge, I set out firmly on the hunt
Before leaving, I prayed a rosary
I left my son in the cradle
And left the dog on guard
Looking for that jaguar, I entered the forest
After walking a lot, I stopped, thought for a moment
I took good care of the child, gave him plenty of food
I gave nothing to the dog, neither water nor food
If he gets hungry
He'll eat my little son
That was my thought
I abandoned the hunt, returned home crying
The bloodied dog came running happily
You killed my little son, you criminal tyrant
I shot the dog twice, he died at the barrel's mouth
But when I reached the door
I found the jaguar dead
And my little son playing
