Por La Mirada
Jaime Roos
By the Look
So many moons
watched me limp along the slope
so many days
living on the surface of words
naive hostage
who thinks he’s him, listening like someone hears the rain
the alibi, the stab in the back
Didn’t know
how to look when I heard or hear when I was called
someone with my voice was warning me
and yet I turned my face away
with a childish gesture
wanted to laugh, denying that the world is measured this way
by the look, by the look
By the look, you see further
by the look, you get there before the other
you know when to believe,
without fear of growing, you know
Other moons
watched me open the leaves of my window
not knowing why and the key
I could break without anyone waking up
sure end
that one who’s wrong because another is right, will confess it
with the look, by the look
By the look, you see further
by the look, you get there before the other
you know when to believe,
without fear of growing, you know
By the look, you feel the cold
you know when to pass or raise the stakes
when to run and embrace
and when to sing I love you
By the tune, by the look
