Vidas Pasadas
Javier Barría
Past Lives
We make versions of past lives that are not
We draw up a plan, change the rules, if any
They tell us about a world that we later erase, while asleep
We seek the magic, the right moment to act
I was a voracious animal
And now I'm afraid of the cold
I was so fast, one of two
And now I sleep to be reborn
We act out versions of past lives in a movie theater
We write scripts before sleep, just in case
They present us with the bill, the lost years, the dormant years
We look at photos, our ancestors, just to look
I've already failed, failed once too many times
I woke up and looked for scars of your love
I woke up, and this is what it is
I woke up at last, but did not lose my soul
