La Reina de África
Javier Ruibal
The Queen of Africa
Where do you come from?
What's going on in Cadiz?
You don't see such beautiful black women
not even during Carnivals.
The queen of Africa through Alameda
passed driving me crazy
with her hips.
They should put
from your door to mine
a path of reeds
and palm trees
and a bamboo hut by the beach
so you feel at home
and don't leave.
The queen of Africa came
and put the dock on its feet,
and everything stopped,
from the loading to the smuggling.
The live ebony goddess
stopped the city
sitting on the white
railing of the Spa.
What whimsical course does love take?
Who knows,
if your heart changes
like the air changes?
Imagine if a gust of wind blew you away
and, without thinking twice,
you would love me.
For a little bit of your love,
I'll go with you to Mombasa:
I'll untie one night
the Port Steamship,
fill the hold with fragrant and fine goods
and all I want is your eyes
and the stars.
