Deus Chorou, Deus Sorriu
Jeferson Tavares
God Cried, God Smiled
God cried, in Eden for his children
God cried, for finding them so strange
God cried, in that so felt cry he guessed
That the seed of sin had sprouted
God cried, moved to contemplate Jerusalem
His chosen one is now a no man's land
Rejected his Lord and his King
God cried, for the people in Egypt
God cried, for slaves and their cries
God cried
God cried when he saw the love of many grow cold
When he saw intolerance increase
Saw the son of his father drift away
To never return home again
God cried, when he saw his own son on a cross
When he saw darkness covering the light
The hope that the world despised
God cried, for poor humanity
God cried, For the empire of evil
God Cried
But God smiled, when the great Red Sea parted
When the force from heaven made itself known
God smiled
God smiled, when a sinful son asked for forgiveness
Confessing his sin in prayer
God smiled, God smiled
God smiled, when hatred finally gave way to peace
When he saw the gospel spread
He saw that his love was not in vain
Saw thousands embracing salvation
And on the day you accepted him
God Cried and Smiled
