Cuando yo queria ser grande
Jenni Rivera
When I wanted to be grown up
My years are getting lost in time,
they are getting very far away.
My father no longer holds my hand
only his advice remains.
Childhood memories live in me
when I wished upon a star.
I remember my father
who would smile at that
while my mother watched.
Years come slowly, at first
how slowly they progress.
How I wanted to be grown up, I remember,
so I wouldn't stay at home
and accompany my father
far away
maybe to the end of the world
because my father was strong
he was very intelligent
he was better than anyone.
Today I don't want the years to pass
because my father is old now
wrinkles have covered his hands
and his hair is snowy.
Oh, Lord, I ask you to stop time
because you can do it
because I truly don't understand.
My God
why do we lose the good things
When your steps get tired, I want to be
the one who takes care of them
meanwhile, give me your arm
and let's see what you're going to tell me.
