The Old Armchair

There is a armchair on the terrace of my house
That every time I look at it, I cry with sorrow
Sometimes at night I get the impression
That this armchair seems to rock on its own

Years go by and the armchair remains the same
The same shape, the same place in the afternoon
When I look at it, it makes me sad
Remembering that my father used to sit there

He was loud, cheerful, and jovial
Happy to see his son happy
Now that I have grown up, I would like to help him
And sadly, he is no longer here

How much I would give to be born again
So that my old man
Oh, would carry me again
And buy me
Gift toys
My cars
At Christmas

That's why when I look at the old armchair, it makes me sad
Oh, why isn't that friend here
Who gave his life so that his son
Would not cry

Oh, I cannot blame you, celestial God
If your will is done on earth
I want to ask you, celestial God
Why did you take my dad away from me

That's why I would like to be born again
So that my mom can carry me too
And see them together, the two of them
Raising their children with great devotion

I cannot blame you, celestial God
If your will is done on earth
I want to ask you, celestial God
Why did you take my dad away from me

Oh, my old man
I miss you so much
From heaven

I remember when I was a child, my dad
Would say wise words giving advice
I was so young, I couldn't interpret
Those scoldings to teach me what's good
As a teenager, I never wanted to accept
Those in front of a friend
It made me so angry that my dad
Repeated almost the same thing

Then at twenty, when I was older
I thought his advice was worthless
I have matured and I admit he was right
I want to thank him, but my old man is no longer here

How much I would give to be born again
So that my old man
Would carry me again
And buy me
Gift toys
The cars
At Christmas

That's why when I look at the old armchair, it makes me sad
Oh, why isn't that friend here
Who gave his life so that his son
Would not cry

I cannot blame you, celestial God
If your will is done on earth
I want to ask you, celestial God
Why did you take my dad away from me

That's why I would like to be born again
So that my mom can carry me too
And see them together, the two of them
Raising their children with great devotion

I cannot blame you, celestial God
If your will is done on earth
I want to ask you, celestial God
Oh, why did you take my dad away from me

Oh, my old man
You know how much I miss you
Lovely old man
Up in heaven

I remember when I was a child, my dad
Would say wise words giving advice
I was so young, I couldn't interpret
Those scoldings to teach me what's good
As a teenager, I never wanted to accept
Those in front of a friend
