My Club
I was just a young boy when I got selected.
If I wanted to play a trial match, the club was interested.
When I got home and told them, my dad jumped on my back,
and my grandpa got teary-eyed, they all thought it was great.
And what do you think, I got chosen, on that long day,
before I knew it, I was allowed to join the A-selection for the first time.
This is my club, my ideal,
this is the most beautiful club of all.
Here lies my heart, my joy, my sorrow,
it can thaw, it can freeze,
we can win or lose,
but there's no better club than this.
We played that one match, the cup final,
the absolute climax in the club's history.
I came in at the end of extra time
with the score still tied,
and I was cold on the field,
when roughly tackled within the penalty box.
The ref blew his whistle,
and pointed to the spot.
And I knew, a well-aimed shot,
and the cup was ours.
This is my club, my ideal,
this is the most beautiful club of all.
Here lies my heart, my joy, my sorrow,
it can thaw, it can freeze,
we can win or lose,
but there's no better club than this.
I was trapped in silence, my heart pounding in my throat,
I took five steps back and thought: if I miss this chance.
commentator: (he's taking it himself, yes, it's of course a question whether that's a wise decision at this stage of the match, that's up for debate. well, here he goes...no..high eyes, chance missed)
I wanted to escape, not be there anymore, I wanted to go back to mother's lap.
We lost, the final, and I wished I was dead.
