Viaje A La Luna

Journey To The Moon
The story we are about to hear is called 'Journey To The Moon'. Before we begin, you should know that each chapter of the story corresponds to a specific group of instruments in the orchestra. The order of appearance will be as follows:
First, the entire orchestra together. Secondly, the family of metal instruments: trombones, French horns, and trumpets. Next, the extensive family of percussion instruments: timpani, bass drum, cymbals, xylophone, triangle, Chinese box, whip, ratchet, whistle, and tam-tam.
Then the string instruments: violins, violas, cellos, and double basses joined by the harp, brass, and percussion. After that, the family of woodwind instruments: piccolo, flutes, oboes, clarinets, and bassoon. And finally, the 'tutti', that is, all the instruments of the orchestra combined.
1. It was a Sunday afternoon, and the Inventis Gang didn't know what to do. They were called the Inventis because they were boys and girls who were always inventing games and stories. They were very clever and good people.
That Sunday, they wanted to do something new, something extraordinary, something more fun than anything they had done before.
Iván, who was the leader of the gang, said:
- Let each of us propose a game or an adventure, and we will choose the one we like the most. You start, Carlos. What could we do? But don't deafen us with your trombone voice. Let's see, what do you suggest?
/trombone/
2. Then Luis spoke:
- No, Carlos, no, exploring the depths of the earth is too easy. There are many holes to enter, and it's just a matter of going down. I like more challenging adventures.
And well, the adventure he explained was not easy at all:
/French horn/
3. It was almost scary to hear Luis's voice, which sounded like a French horn, when he explained that he wanted to discover what was at the bottom of the sea:
/French horn/
4. Tomás said yes, he was in too:
/2 French horns/
5. But Iván and Miguel didn't agree:
/2 trombones/
6. They said that if they went into the sea, they would get soaked, and there would be a family brawl:
/trombones and French horns/
7. But the others mocked them:
- And if we go underground, what then? The dust will get into our ears. The discussion never ended:
/trombones and French horns/
8. Then Ana, one of the girls, who were tired of the boys not listening to them, started to speak. She started very softly...
/trumpet/
9. Then louder, and soon all the girls joined in. What a racket!
/trumpets/
10. - But what are these crazy girls talking about! And then Ana said it very clearly:
11. - The Moon! The Moon!
And the idea was so successful that the whole gang started shouting: The Moon, let's go to the Moon!
/all the brass/
12. From that day on, every Sunday afternoon, the Inventis Gang met to discuss all the details of the journey to the Moon:
/percussion/
- From where will we launch the rocket?
- From the rooftop of the house, which is the highest.
- It will be cool up there, right? Mom always says to wear a scarf when I go to school...
- A backpack full of chocolate, that's what we need.
- And a bike, a bike to ride on the Moon.
- Stop, stop! - Iván warned. If we start loading the rocket, it won't even lift an inch off the ground.
/metal/
13. And when everyone agreed, it was time to start building the rocket. Everyone was carrying the strangest elements and devices to Iván's rooftop.
/percussion/
14. A procession like no other had ever been seen...
/percussion/
15. At first, they left all the junk on the floor, without any order.
16. Until, a few days later, Iván said:
- We have enough material now. I will explain how we should assemble the iron, cans, aluminum, plastic, springs, everything. Carlos, Luis, Tomás: get to work!
17. Everyone worked hard. Sometimes they made so much noise, the boys and girls, that they had to shout to understand each other:
/percussion and metal/
18. When the work was halfway done, the rocket started to tilt dangerously...
19. Until...
20. Everything on the floor! But the Inventis Gang, undeterred, started again. But this time they had experience, and they worked faster and more confidently.
21. When the rocket was ready, Iván said to the girls:
- Now it's your turn. Be very careful, because this is the most delicate operation. Fill the tank with the secret fuel.
And they, who knew it all, had it filled in no time.
/percussion and metal/
22. Suddenly, there was a great silence. There was nothing left to do. They looked at each other until Iván said:
- The time has come to get into the rocket. One by one, and very slowly.
/metal/
23. Fasten your seatbelt. And put on your helmet. Attention: five, four, three, two, one... Blast off!
/string, metal, and percussion/
24. When they saw themselves shooting off... what a scream of enthusiasm!
25. They were already rising into the air.
26. Up, higher and higher...
27. With their faces pressed against the window panes, all those apprentice astronauts admired the beauty of space.
28. The Earth looked smaller and smaller.
29. Look, look! We are getting closer to the Moon!
30. Iván checked the cosmic clock he was wearing and warned:
- Carlos, get ready to activate the brake rockets.
31. Now!
32. They had arrived!
33. - Stop making noise, gang! Luis, open the door and go out one by one.
/piccolo/
34. Everyone stood still on the Moon. It seemed like a desert, but a white desert, with small hills resembling flans; at their feet, the ground looked like frozen cream. There was not a hint of air. At first, they thought everything was silent. But little by little...
35. - Do you hear that voice? Someone is welcoming us.
36. - It sounds like a piccolo - said a girl.
/flutes/
37. - A piccolo? No. Surely it's an invisible inhabitant of the Moon.
/oboes and clarinets/
38. - Look. This other voice is also very beautiful.
39. New voices could be heard, and all the gang members listened in amazement.
/bassoon/
40. - Don't you think that one is laughing at us?
41. - Come on, guys, we have to find out where they are hiding. Let's go!
/woodwind and percussion/
They were a kind of men like the men on Earth, but happier and they seemed like brothers.
They were a kind of women like the women on Earth, but happier and they carried a rose in their hand, as if it were always a festive day.
They were a kind of boys and girls like the boys and girls on Earth, but happier and more sincere, and happier to have friends.
42. - Boys and girls listening to me. The Inventis Gang never returned from the Moon, even though they had their rocket ready. That means they liked everything they discovered there very much.
They are still there, and undoubtedly, they hope that more people from Earth will come.
/orchestra/
Determined and cheerful people like them.
43. People who are eager to study and work...
44. People who believe that we must truly make a better world...
45. And who are interested in people they don't know, people who are different.
46. If you are like that, don't hesitate: you will go far...
At three!, At two!, At one!:
To the Moon!
