Soneto A Mamá
Joan Manuel Serrat
Sonnet To Mom
It's not that I won't come back, because I've forgotten
Your scent of thyme and kitchen
From afar, they say it's clearer
That it's not the same who walks and who moves
And I learned that love has green eyes
That the deck has four suits
That what is lost never returns
And the tide rises and then falls
I learned that simplicity is not foolishness
That we shouldn't confuse value and price
And a delicacy can be any bite
If the horizon is light and the course a kiss
It's not that I won't come back because I've forgotten
It's that I lost the way back
