As Razões do Boca Braba
João de Almeida Neto
The Reasons of the Angry Mouth
(Some people don't understand
That a real man, when truly manly,
Even if the world collapses
Doesn't back down and doesn't surrender
These are the ones who get offended
By my air of freedom
And out of envy, and malice
From their macabre minds
They label as angry mouth
Those who have personality)
They call me angry mouth
They don't know how to analyze me
I have a fiery temper
But a soul like guaraná
Only those who intend to peel me
Won't get peeled themselves
And once I get angry
It's no use flattering me
(I know that it's in me that almost
One hundred percent
Of all the resentment
Of these people who hold grudges ends up
It's because I don't fall for their tricks
Of those who love to show their teeth
And because they don't trust their own abilities
They stick close to the influential politicians)
They call me angry mouth
But I don't even get angry
I don't belittle the poor
Nor flatter the rich
When I like something, I praise it
When I don't, I criticize it
And where there's a rooster crowing
I go there and shut its beak
(My way?
Ah, my way, as I've said
For some it's very beautiful
For others it's my flaw
But maybe it's my way
That changes my path
Everyone has their own road
Their place, their stopover
The bee likes the flower
The itch, the pack of dogs)
They call me angry mouth
These people are mistaken
I have the mouth of a man
And I have a formed opinion
I know which mouth exploits
I know which mouth is exploited
And it's better to be an angry mouth
Than to have no voice at all!
