Um Ser de Luz
João Nogueira
A Being of Light
One day
A being of light was born
In a small town
And the boy God blessed him
With a white cloak when baptized
He turned into a mockingbird
Owner of the verses of a troubadour
And the queen of his place
Then his voice
As it spread
Covered the ground
Crossed the sea
Carried by the air
Wherever it reached
It chased away the pain
With the power of his singing
But one day it happened
That the boy God called
And she left to sing
Beyond the moonlight
Where the stars live
And we stay remembering
Watching the sky clear up
Hoping to see her, mockingbird
Mockingbird
How we miss your joy
Without you, my song is now just
Melancholy
Sing, my mockingbird, fly, my mockingbird
Goodbye, my mockingbird, until one day
Sing, my mockingbird, fly, my mockingbird
Goodbye, my mockingbird, until one day
