Pecador, Contempla
Joaquín Díaz
Sinner, Contemplate
Sinner contemplate the final day
When the sons of Adam will have to give account
In a green valley that is of Josafat
Wrapped in ashes, you will see the world
The world finished, you must contemplate
That body and soul will seek their union
God will call to judgment every rational being
So they may give an account of their actions
Tell me, sinner if you are not in grace
When God calls you to His tribunal
Your bosom of sins will be seen there
And even the most hidden ones will be evident
Your guardian angel will accuse you there
And the most holy Mary will not protect you
There the severe judge will charge you greatly
Of your bad life, you will answer
There will be no excuses, nor will be accepted
Explanations from anyone for their wrongdoing
Tell me, wretched one, who will you turn to
If there even the most just will tremble?
Weep for your faults, groan and cry out
For if the fault is grave, hell is worse
It is a bitter pill, a golden disguise
That is sold as sugar but is really poison
It is a cunning serpent, infernal dragon
Basilisk that kills with just a glance
