Que Se Llama Soledad
Joaquín Sabina
That Which is Called Loneliness
Sometimes I fly
And other times
I drag myself too close to the ground
Some early mornings I can't sleep
And I walk like a cat in heat
Patrolling the city
In search of a female cat
At that cursed hour
When the bars are about to close
When the soul needs
A body to caress
Sometimes I live
And other times
Life slips away with what I write
Sometimes I look for an adjective
Inspired and possessive
That scratches your heart
Then I throw my message
It's carried as luggage
By a bottle, to the sea of your incomprehension
I don't want to blackmail you
I just want to give you a song
And sometimes I tend to lay
My head on the shoulder of the Moon
And I talk to her about that untimely lover
That which is called loneliness
Sometimes I win
And other times
I set up a circus and the dwarfs grow
Sometimes I find a worm
In the apple
Forbidden by Father Adam
Or I sleep and leave the door
Of my room open
Just in case you decide to return
Stranger was that summer
That didn't stop snowing
And sometimes I tend to lay
My head on the shoulder of the Moon
And I talk to her about that untimely lover
That which is called loneliness
