Tratado de Impaciencia Número 10
Joaquín Sabina
Impatience Treaty Number 10
That night it didn't rain
Nor did you show up apologizing
Saying, as you sat down
Forgive me if I'm late
You didn't overwhelm me with questions
Nor did I try to impress you
Telling silly adventures
False travel stories
We didn't wander around the neighborhood
Looking for an open dive
Nor did I kiss you when the Moon
Suggested it was the moment
We didn't go dancing either
Nor did a bird tremble in your chest
When my mouth was moving
From words to actions
And we didn't end up in bed
Where these things end
Burning together in the bonfire
Of skin, sweat, saliva, and shadow
So don't go lamenting
What could have happened and didn't
That night you failed
I didn't show up for the date either
