Hitória de Cristo

Story of Christ
The Bible tells the story of Christ Jesus
It seems like I see this scene unfolding
I will describe a little bit the scene of the cross
My eyes squeeze me, I don't know if I can sing
But it was I who should suffer and feel this pain
It was I who should die hanging on the cross
I could never repay this gesture of love
I can only say thank you, Lord
It seems like I see thorns and a bleeding forehead
His eyes wet with tears looking at me
His lips stained with blood seem to say
I love you my child, that's why I suffer like this
But it was I who should suffer and feel this pain
It was I who should die hanging on the cross
I could never repay this gesture of love
I can only say thank you, Lord
I hear the crack of the whip on the wet body
The sweat mixed with blood flowed down his body
The cross is heavy on his shoulder but he keeps walking
His blood is the seed of the church that has grown today
But it was I who should suffer and feel this pain
It was I who should die hanging on the cross
I could never repay this gesture of love
I can only say thank you, Lord
He conquered at Calvary and in hell, filled with glory
He descended to Hades freeing from cruel death
Those who were captive waiting for victory
Opening the way and taking his body to heaven
But it was I who should suffer and feel this pain
It was I who should die hanging on the cross
I could never repay this gesture of love
I can only say thank you, Lord
