El Otro Engranaje

The Other Gear
Desire follows a parallel course,
And the story is a network and not a path,
Days and nights of love and jealousy,
One bed fills up and another empties.
I saw it, even in hospitals,
Surgeons sneaking off to motels...
So complicated are simple mortals,
And so easy to know what they're up to!
And beneath congresses, tours, shootings,
Agricultural fairs and conventions,
The other gear turns inexorably,
The invisible wheel of transgressions.
Life is also those messages,
The call made from the corner,
The trips had little business,
All about their love, that office.
The singer eager for new skins...
The literate person showed his wink...
Through the hallways of so many hotels,
Traffic intensifies in the early hours.
Clear, evident, libido commands,
Fidelity, a hazy word,
With its uncertain list of forbidden gestures,
It always bites less than it barks.
