Movement
As soon as we stood on two feet
We began to migrate through the savannah
Following the herd of bison
Beyond the horizon, to new distant lands
Children on our backs and expectant
Eyes alert, all ears
Sniffing that puzzling
New, unknown landscape
We are a species on a journey
We have no belongings, only baggage
We go with the pollen in the wind
We are alive because we are in motion
We are never still
We are transhumant, we are
Parents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of immigrants
What I dream is more mine than what I touch
I am not from here, but neither are you
I am not from here, but neither are you
Not from anywhere entirely, and from everywhere
A little bit
We cross deserts, glaciers, continents
The whole world from end to end
Determined, survivors
Eyes on the wind and the currents
Firm hand on the oar
We carry our wars
Our lullabies
Our course made of verses
Of migrations, of famines
And so it has been forever, from infinity
We were the water droplet, traveling on the meteorite
We crossed galaxies, void, millennia
We sought oxygen, found dreams
As soon as we stood on two feet
And saw ourselves in the shadow of the bonfire
We heard the voice of challenge
Always looking at the river, thinking of the other shore
We are a species on a journey
We have no belongings, only baggage
We are never still, we are transhumant
We are parents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of immigrants
What I dream is more mine than what I touch
I am not from here, but neither are you
I am not from here, but neither are you
Not from anywhere entirely, and from everywhere
A little bit
The same with songs
The birds, the alphabets
If you want something to die
Leave it still
