Numa Corrente de Verão
Jorge Vercillo
In a Summer Current
The wind blew my illusion
Cotton flower, my thoughts
Jumped the wall, took off, looping in the air
In a summer current
To the nest of some sparrow, tenth floor
Through the window, falls on the fur
Of a lively dog out for a walk
In the elevator's fan
There goes my illusion, cotton flower
Almost got run over by a car
Crossed the whole street the wrong way
Smashed against the storefronts
Another gust of air, off to roam
The whole afternoon to land in your hand
I’m not one to dwell on what’s past
Nor to mourn what’s gone
I’m here to create what will be
It’s like Dali’s clocks
It’s like Galdi’s towers
Like Brasília for Oscar
Or in the throw of another Oscar
So I go with the wind
I’m a leaf of thought
Einstein walked through time
Crossed walls and rivers inside
Yeah, our future will be like this
Like a staircase forming
Under the feet of those who dream
Of those who dare to think beyond
I’m not one to dwell on what’s past
Nor to mourn what’s gone
I’m here to create what will be
For those who dare to think beyond
