Aunque Digas Que No
José Larralde
Even If You Say No
Even if you say no...
Even if you say no,
the leaves and the birds will be seen in the air,
without prejudices,
nor mirrors that disturb their wings.
The roses and the willows will grow, and the grasses,
the afternoons will sail, threading rosaries,
of droplets and phrases.
Words and lonely and loving dews,
like thunder and rain,
and the stream and its course.
And even if you say no,
I will be your constant,
ephemeral and perpetual beating heart,
distant and tight...
daring and gallant,
the genius of nothing fulfilling your desires,
and forgetting to love you,
inconsistent and precise,
the one who turns your broadest senses into a child,
the one who sins by giving you reason and tears,
and bites your tears,
arrogant and silent.
And even if you say no,
more than ever, I love you,
rebellious the tenderness of my tired arms,
day by day I lift you up,
without you noticing how high.
It's a pity you don't know why it hurts me so much,
the guilt of these years,
the old ways I treat you,
but never forget,
that even if you don't know how much,
and even if you say no,
more than ever... I love you.
