Ayer Bajé Al Poblao
José Larralde
Yesterday I Went Down to the Village
Yesterday, I went down to the village, damn I was
Eager to get drunk, damn
With what? I said to myself, Oh dear, if I didn't get any
And there's no one to lend me even a drink as a favor
The hare is a light with so many bullets
My old man's small twelve didn't even cough
The bullets of the villager, peeled the fields
Making a hole for the poor laborer
Yesterday I went down to the village, damn I was
Eager to fight even with God
Look down a bit, throw me some work
Look, I still believe in you
The hare is a light with so many bullets
My dog doesn't even see where they go
Among the grasslands, my troubles have tangled
For a thin strip that is my bread
The matter is tough
Some odd job and some thin strip almost sometimes is enough
I won't say that much is needed, but much is not necessary either
The problem is with the people, they bring some brute shotguns, you know
And between no work and so many seen
And for us, nothing seen
What can you do
The hare is a light with so many bullets
My old man's small twelve didn't even cough
The bullets of the villager, peeled the fields
Making a hole for the poor laborer
And among the grasslands, my troubles have tangled
For a thin strip that is my bread
