Cautiva Del Río
José Larralde
Captive of the River
I found you, my love, do you remember,
by the beach that kisses the river
and lifting you in my arms,
I placed you next to my warm chest.
like a sweet dove, I gave you the lullaby of my songs
And love was born as in a garden
in that ranch next to the palm trees.
And since then, trapped in that nest
and in love with that shore of the gentle river
the moon rises behind the mountain
and puts a silver glow on the waters
and happiness in your eyes.
A heron is a handkerchief
with a thirst for the sky, it goes far away
Like a bud that the wind
snatched from the cotton field.
Hidden in the environment
green and violet, the evening died,
the night came wrapped in jasmine
and found you happy next to the palm trees.
And since then, trapped in that nest
and in love with that shore of the gentle river
the moon rises behind the mountain
and puts a silver glow on the waters,
and happiness in your eyes.
