Hombre

Man
I ain't got no more luck
than these two arms God gave me,
if they haven't touched the moon
it's 'cause they haven't tried.
My arms do everything
working hard for a well-earned bread,
and I can't figure out
why they're forgotten.
And I can't find the reason
and God is my witness
that I struggle with myself when I think,
how I fight without hesitation
if my own brother
can forget me.
I asked time
where love takes the one next to you,
it answered with a smile
that it had gotten lost.
I asked myself
where it might have taken refuge,
selfishness found it
and has it locked up.
Open your eyes, brother
don't blind yourself, you'll dream
no matter how high you climb
time will catch up with you.
The road is even
and you won't escape,
the earth is trampled
but in the end, it gives it to you.
And I can't find the reason
and God is my witness
that I struggle with myself when I think
that bursting the one in front
bursts or will burst
we're gonna burst.
