Mi Lugar
José Luis Perales
My Place
Days passing by like that, just like that
Watching the rain fall
on the window pane
Clouds painted in gray drift away, drift away
And in the countryside, you can hear the sparrow
sing, sing
There,
where the man and the crops ripen in the sun
Where the lantern shines and the clock stops
Where the light shines and the night falls asleep
Brown earth and lime walls
Spring without sun, bar visitors
Apprentices of love, farmers march
And church bells ring
My place
my truth
my warmth
And some women in the sun, washing, washing
A wine bottle, a sack
and walking, walking
A touch of love,
trembling, trembling
And lips that want to laugh
To forget
There,
where the man and the crops ripen in the sun
Where the lantern shines and the clock stops
Where the light shines and the night falls asleep
Brown earth and lime walls
Spring without sun, bar visitors
Apprentices of love, farmers march
And church bells ring
My place
my truth
my warmth.
