Hoy Sueño Con Volver
José Luis Perales
Today I Dream of Going Back
Today I wish I could go back where the breeze sleeps
And the water in the pond laughs without stopping
And see the Sun set behind the mountains
And hear the rough traveler sing
Today I dream of going back
I dream of seeing my river, my mountains
My rocks, my nephews, and the sparrow's nest
That among the branches fell asleep yesterday
Today I wish I could see the wide field again
Where the mallows grow and the nightingale sings
And in the evening, caress some smiles
Steal verses from the wind and listen to its song
Today I wish I could see the light being born again
That colored my valleys and my hills
And in the afternoon, hear the cicada
And sit in the Sun and play with my dog
Today I dream of going back
I dream of seeing my river, my mountains
My rocks, my nephews, and that white house
That sleeps waiting by the road
