La Nina de La Mochila Azul
Joseph Sasson
The Girl with the Blue Backpack
What's wrong with you, little one?, what's wrong with you?
They ask me at school and they ask me at home
Until now I knew it suddenly
When I heard the roll call and she wasn't present
The one with the blue backpack
The one with sleepy eyes
Left me with great unease
And low grades
I don't even want to go out for recess
I don't have fun with anything
I can't read or write
I miss her gaze
I only have her colors as a memory
Two pages of a notebook
And it says love among smudges
I would like to see her at her desk
Because if she doesn't come back
My classroom will be very sad
The one with the blue backpack
The one with sleepy eyes
Left me with great unease
And low grades
I don't even want to go out for recess
I don't have fun with anything
I can't read or write
I miss her gaze
