The Sidewalk
He told her he had to leave
That there are promises one cannot keep
She didn't understand why life is like this
Why a goodbye has stolen her April
He left like that, left the door open
And she went to sit on the sidewalk
And she stayed watching as everything slips away
How the future will turn into the past
She bites her memories just to not cry
And there she wondered how she had everything and lost it
She didn't tell anyone what happened that day
She preferred to keep it all in a drawer
Time passed and even though she aged
In her heart, her love for him grew
At 6 o'clock she would go to the sidewalk
Hope always sat with her
And she stayed watching as everything slips away
