Dios Y El Diablo En El Taller
Juan Carlos Baglietto
God And The Devil In The Workshop
God and the devil whisper things behind my back
the virgin in a nightgown walks around and next to the factory
a motor sounds.
Their wet bicycles rest in the hallway
winter came red but this time there's no wine
for the two.
They are two unemployed men
what's right became fashionable
and the verse almost a true verse
and work a zone that doesn't exist
Rai-ra rai-ri rei-ra.
Bored players with marked cards
always on seven
the radio speaks alone
and broadcasts the tie between Ferro and Platense
two to two.
Talking about the world is forbidden in those rooms
God and the Devil mend early mornings
and I don't understand anything.
The virgin as a woman deceives them, consoles them
and tells them that there's always a price to pay on the way back
Boys, you have to eat
head to the workshop.
The devil who gets bored, who makes tallow,
goes to the bathroom and smokes a joint
God, a good worker, watches over the place
and whistles a tango under his breath
that talks about.
"Let's go where there's sun"
The Devil who knows a thousand places
where there are girls
And something like love
God says "We have to endure"
with the overtime
I have enough to make
a trip on foot to Lujan
And close to six
the whistle echoing in the shed
makes it even sadder
The virgin ...
