Yo Nací Aquí
Juan Fernando Velasco
I Was Born Here
I was born in this country,
That tastes like sugar cane and cotton,
That lights up long before the sun rises
I was born in this country,
Of poor children with starch,
Indebted to those who took everything away.
A country full of history,
Of men and women of concrete;
Full of courage and tenderness,
Full of passion.
I was born in this country that goes
With joys and pain,
With beautiful people
And scoundrels who steal our dreams;
Who are not afraid of the future,
Who do not let themselves be defeated,
Who do not ask me for a visa
And to which I always want to return.
I was born in this country,
That sometimes pushes me back,
Sometimes I resign myself, sometimes I want to escape.
But I was born here,
Here I learned to walk,
Here I met you, here I fell in love with you.
This country full of history,
Of men and women of concrete;
Full of courage and tenderness...
Full of passion.
I was born in this country that goes
With joys and pain,
With beautiful people
And scoundrels who steal our dreams;
Who are not afraid of the future,
Who do not let themselves be defeated,
Who do not ask me for a visa
And to which I always want to return.
Na na na na na
I was born here
Na na na na na
I was born here!
