Heartbeat
I shyly smile at the breeze that tickles the flowers,
A pack of puppies crossing the sidewalk starts to trot away.
Mom's pudding smelled like vanilla, oh so sweet,
Just a little more to the park, I'm whistling away.
I loved the rain that fell on the nights I dreamed of long hair,
On the way home, after being rejected, chatting helped me cope.
The sunflowers towered high, smelling like everyone around,
I won't see you again, and that was the scary part.
Looking up at the sky, I clap my hands,
Like kissing the earth below,
A brand new story just born,
And an endless feeling of excitement.
As the sun sets down on me,
Don't fade away, my heart's racing.
With every changing season, we keep walking on,
Just a little more to the park, whistling along.
Looking up at the sky, I clap my hands,
Like kissing the earth below,
If these feelings are strong enough,
I don't mind getting hurt.
When I get tired of walking, I’ll just scream out,
Like pretending to be tough in the dark,
The rainbow reflected in a child's eyes,
Doesn't know how to break apart.
Reaching out, I let the light shine on my face.
