Tengo Miedo
Julio Sosa
I'm Afraid
In the gambling of life, I stood with seven and a half,
Being the only stop in life that I got right.
I was already on the slope of ruin, without remedy,
But one day I said 'enough' and that day I stood my ground.
I left the real bar of the eternal caravan,
I moved away from the tango and its cheap thrill;
With the sadness of my nights, I made a beautiful morning:
The cemetery of my life turned into a garden.
Bachelor pad, races, gambling, boozy gatherings
And fleeting affections... False kisses, yes, from a woman...
I buried everything in the forgotten noisy past
For the holiest affection a man can have.
Today, you see, I am calm... That's why, kindly,
I beg you not to come and disturb my sweet peace;
To leave me with my mother, by her side, reverently,
I will build another life, as I feel capable.
I beg you not to come, I'm afraid of meeting you,
Because there's something in my existence that can't forget you...
I'm afraid of your eyes, I'm afraid of kissing you,
I'm afraid of loving you and starting over.
Be good... Don't look for me... stay away from my path...
Perhaps in another affection you'll find your redemption...
You know I don't want my sweet talk to offend you...
It's just that I'm very afraid my heart will fail me.
