Paulo e Silas

Paul and Silas were
Behind the iron curtains
Challenging the empire in the form of a song
The other prisoners cried
And said: What do they have?
Paul said nothing, just sang
And Silas too

It was a big surprise
When the gate opened
All the prisoners had
Gentle freedom
But Paul told the jailer
None of your prisoners escaped

We know it was
God's providence
Who was present
Among the Hebrew people
Who descended into prison
Was an angel of light
Who opened the chains
Were the hands of Jesus

Someone might think
What had the two done?
If they were disciples of good
They hurt no one, suffered this way?
I'll explain it to you now
It was for love of the gospel
There was revolt among the people
To close the door of their ministry

Jesus was with them
On earth, in water, and in the air
Even inside the jail
Jesus was also there
Jesus was a simple lamb
That even the jailer wanted to save

We know it was
