La pajarera
K-Paz De La Sierra
The birdhouse
(Upon arriving at the affectionate station)
Upon arriving at the affectionate station
Where the birds joyfully sang
Let's go then, my dear Rosita
To listen to those sweet songs
A wild little bird has fallen
A goldfinch has fallen
A couple of sparrows have fallen
The hawk has fallen, a prisoner
When you go to Mexico, Rosita
To sell them in the capital
Five pesos will be the lowest price
That they can be worth over there
If a lady passing by asks you
If they are wild little birds
You will tell her that their land is not there
That you bring them from the warm land
They already know that I am a birdkeeper
That I live in the countryside daily
Enjoying the spring
Of the birds and their beautiful fields
Rosita is leaving and saying goodbye
She bids farewell with pleasure and there
I am, gentlemen, the birdkeeper
Who among you will go with her
