Concrete Poetry

From every concrete sidewalk in the city
every beam that rises
every life that follows
every citizen pursues their quota fighting to stay
marking the same route fighting to never get lost
to not lose sight of the face of defeat stamped in the lie
that makes a point at every corner leaning against a pole
ready to steer you away from luck
maybe a sudden cut in your fate
there are some who follow the routine and don't see around
complain and don't take a stand to make it better
think it's better to survive just by keeping a distance
from every dream that grew in childhood
and every child's hope mixes with the impure air inspired and exhaled,
by every common citizen who lets freedom slip away
in the gutter of the city's concrete sidewalk

[Chorus:]
Dedicated, to every, poet of the city, dedicated, to every, athlete of the city,
dedicated to every human being of the city who cultivates freedom in the city's concrete

Between the concrete walls of the city, the world hides
of those who do any business just to not be labeled a bum
grown-up dreams shatter by the second with every insult from the boss
it's the make-believe cult that I'm happy this way
salary at the end of the month is what counts, pays the bills and does me good
it's not the case I fit into
dream too high to live low like a doormat
and I think there are others out there
who look at the walls just thinking of demolishing
to be free, but in reality don't even know how
lost all sense used to living with an owner
I don't condemn, but I don't agree and don't adapt
outside the walls I capture more inspiration
I feel able to sing freedom
that hides between the city's concrete walls

[chorus]
Some concrete ceiling of the city, shelters the rest
of the similar freedom that flowed through the sidewalk gutter
hid between the walls or moved on to another
died of hunger, cold, thirst
because without shelter there's nowhere to return
to rest and think
about the strategy to keep fighting to maintain the freedom one has
the adversities are unknown
where they come from what face they have
by whose hands they come with whose order someone tell me
why I can't be completely happy
without someone or something trying to disturb my mind
but I keep moving forward always,
I'll keep swimming even if it's against the current
to build my verse my shelter, my ceiling
to make my version of concrete poetry

[chorus]
