Cântico de Ana
Kimberly Fraiber
Ana's Chant
She used to live crying, always in some corner
Sad, humiliated, and mocked by another woman
She was barren of everything, lived in a sad suffering
And she wanted at least one child
Ana, wife of Eucana, a man of wealth
In the street, the news spread, Penina has children and Ana has none
So Eucana and his family went up to Shiloh every year to offer sacrifices to the Lord
While Eucana served a meal to Penina and her children
Ana cried and lost her appetite as she was provoked and humiliated by her rival
Ana went out disguising herself and went to the altar
And crying to the God of heaven, she said: Give me a beloved child in my arms!
She seemed drunk but it was faith
The priest said, go in peace woman, may the God of heaven answer your request
Then Ana rose from her prayer and her face was no longer sad
It was radiant and full of hope, the following year she did not come to Shiloh
For she had been answered by the Lord and there was Ana breastfeeding a child
And all the people of that city saw and heard Ana singing a hymn to the Lord
I'm walking on clouds singing to God
Looking at my rivals, contemplating the blessing God gave me
There is no rock, no stone, no saint like my God
He crushes the enemy, makes the weak strong, He puts life where there was death
Barren woman now breastfeeding her child, that's my God
Barren woman now breastfeeding her child, that's my God
