Hänsel und Gretel

Hansel and Gretel got lost in the woods.
It was already dark and so bitterly cold.
They came upon a little house made of gingerbread so fine:
Who might be the owner of this little house?

Hey, hey, an old witch peeked out,
she lured the children into the gingerbread house.
She acted very friendly, oh Hansel, what a plight!
She wanted to roast him in the oven brown like bread!

But when the witch looked into the oven,
she was pushed by our little Gretel.
The witch must now roast. The children go home.
Now the tale of Hansel and Gretel is over.
