Cuando maurice se va
La Fuga
When Maurice Leaves
He says he knows how to fly
with two paper wings,
he writes to keep from crying
about the wounds of the past;
that they never come back.
He works as a con man.
For Maurice, one plus one doesn’t equal two.
In the school of life,
he always gets straight A's.
Old troubadour,
Always on the run,
ever pays for the month of April.
When his heart gets tight:
A poem and a good drink,
and a smile.
Who’s gonna pay?
He says when he leaves the bar
and makes up a song.
He steals a piece of paper and draws himself as he is:
a womanizer and a dreamer, a partner in pleasure.
If he were mayor, everything would be better.
He’d break the rules, let the thief go free.
Imagination would be a must.
He’d paint the streets in color.
