Puerto Rico
La Pandilla
Puerto Rico
This afternoon I heard a tune
And I felt a wave of nostalgia thinking of the place
Where I was born, Puerto Rico.
What will become of my land and my trees?
What will happen to my sun-drenched home?
My dear sun, old friend.
Who could be a bird and fly
To return and be with you?
Soon I'll be back in Puerto Rico
Singing my songs
By the sea.
Soon I'll be back in Puerto Rico
My home is waiting for me there.
And sitting in the shade of that garden
I planted the day before I left there
I’ll feel the warmth of my land.
Who could be a boat and float
To be once again by your shore?
Who could be a bird and fly
To return and be with you?
Soon I'll be back in Puerto Rico
Singing my songs
By the sea.
Soon I'll be back in Puerto Rico
My home is waiting for me there.
