La Ciudad de Los Gatos Negros
La Pegatina
The City of Black Cats
In the city of black cats, everything seems just as it is,
The dogs now meow, dancing to some jazzy samba bliss.
In the city of black cats, the selfish gives it all away,
And the butcher sells sardines while the planes fly over the bay.
And that's what it's like to be scared and see it all upside down,
To dream with your eyes wide open, and paint without a brush around.
The one who calms the rage with fire, the one who laughs while he cries,
The one who feels it all so deeply, and at night all the cats are sly,
They mock the stranger who tries to understand their ways.
In the city of black cats, the one who cries also laughs,
And the one who sings of their troubles doesn’t scare, and the one who wins just loses fast.
In the city of black cats, the sailors go out to hunt,
They splash in the water with soda, burying their freedom in a front.
Turn it around and spin it, let what seems be just a fleeting show,
Turn it around and live it, do it your way so it feels like a flow,
And we are what we are, yeah, but not always,
Everything we walk through won’t always be so eloquent,
What we are, yeah, and only sometimes, don’t let them tell you.
Optimism, optimism.
